Waseda university students from Japan in Kajima Poland office

Waseda University students have visited Kajima Poland

03 January 2023

At the end of 2022, we talked to students of Tokyo’s Waseda University about business, climate change, and cultural differences between Japan and Poland.

Industrial and logistics construction is our speciality. We talked about how we had been coping on the difficult Polish construction market for over twenty years and what set us apart in our industry. 182-year-old Kajima is a merited and respected construction brand in Japan. Our guests know about it and listened with curiosity when we were talking how it works on our market.

What is the level of awareness of climate change in Europe and Poland? The students from Japan could assess this after discussing the Net-Zero 2050 and Fit For 55 European environmental programmes and how new climate regulations (e.g. those related to recycling and greenhouse gas emissions) were already affecting business. Much time was also spent on discussing BREEAM and LEED certifications for which we prepare the facilities we build.

We also talked a lot about ethical and social issues, so important in modern business. Our guests were very curious about the professional position of women in Poland (at Kajima Poland, women account for 40% of the entire staff) and the relations between employees and their superiors. In our company, these relations are always open and based on partnership.

The students spent half a day with us, but we hope that they will remember #Poland for a long time. Our speakers: Jun Karasawa, Hiroki Saji (Kajima Europe), Masashi Suzuki, Agnieszka Pęcherz, Radosław Łajc, and Katarzyna Maćkiewicz.
