Procurement as part of the implementation of large-span halls in the Design & Build formula – this is the topic of the March meeting of Kajima Poland with students. The meeting is, of course, a part of Kajima Poland’s presence in the Builder 4 Future | Builder 4 The Young Engineers educational programme. In Łódź office, we hosted members of the “IX Floor” Architecture Students’ Scientific Club operating at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering of Lodz University of Technology.
Our guests were able to see that Procurement in the Design & Build model is much more than just comparing offers received from subcontractors and suppliers. It is a comprehensive process of strategic procurement management at construction sites, which includes, among others, strategic risk management, decisions often made with incomplete documentation, as well as effective cooperation between design teams and contractors. We also emphasized that many problems do not arise in the design itself or on the construction site, but in between, which is why good coordination and dialogue with all participants in the process is the key to success in D&B.
We would like to thank our guests from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering Lodz University of Technology for their active participation and great questions. The meeting was prepared and led by Kajima Poland employees: Łukasz Jaszczuk, Milena Nawrot and Rafał Skarzyński.
